Cheapass Sailor Saturn resin figure arrived in the mail yesterday. She's not bad at all, just desperately needs to be repainted by someone who isn't a Chihuahua shut inside a fridge with an espresso machine.

Meanwhile, Ed is still having a hard time adjusting to his new environment, greeting all he sees with an expression of mute, puzzled horror. So I swapped his pool cue for Saturn's Silence Glaive.

Ed is rather pleased, and Saturn is happy to be free of the responsibility. I think she spent the night hustling the Be@rbricks at pool. Shaun, on the other hand, is horrified. Giving Ed the power of life and death over the entire universe is...well, Ed's a good guy and all, deep down, but for the love of God, there are limits. Ed would never harm one of the increasingly limited hairs on Shaun's head, but the probability of an accidental emfroggening are very high.

Still, he seems to feel a little better, and that's the important thing.

I kind of want to write fic involving accidental emfroggening now. Also, "increasingly limited hairs" made me snicker madly.

So where're the pictures? Or, ooh, even better, the illustration? I'd dearly love to see cheerfully power-mad Ed and froggified Shaun.

As a toy collector, maybe you could help me with a wee problem I have. I recently acquired some very cute 3" (well, he's 2.5" and she's more like 4", but they call 'em 3") Wall-E and Eve figures. Eve's got a rounded bottom, since she's a hovering 'bot, and was supposed to come with a little stand to sit on. Somehow in between partially opening the package in my kitchen and going upstairs to my office, the base for the stand vanished. Is it possible to get bits and pieces like that separately? Or at least something that would do the trick? Any tips would be most appreciated!

Shaun and Ed are still bickering, so I think they've finally settled down. Ed likes to use the Glaive to gesture emphatically, so this can only end in hilaritytrouble.

I don't have Eve (I have Squishy Captain), so I'm not sure what her stand is like. Does it plug into a little hole? If so, something like a bamboo skewer might work. If it's just the base, a glob of poster putty might do. Maybe an old Micro Machines spaceship base? Could you set her in an upside-down plastic bottle cap, or a spool or a thimble?

You're probably best off just finding the base. Small clear objects are kind of a bitch to find, but if you get down low to the ground, that can make them easier to spot. A flashlight can help, too, bringing out the shiny glints.

A vacuum cleaner is pretty much guaranteed to find it, but you may not be able to get it back again. :(

If it comes to it, look for the toy company (Thinkway?) on the Web and see if they have an e-mail contact. I imagine a lot of Eve stands will disappear or get crunched this summer.

Aha! Great suggestions. I couldn't find it with the flashlight search, but a bottle cap is serving admirably as a stand-in. (I think the vacuum thing would work, but given my luck with vacuums, it would not only be impossible to remove but also kill the vacuum.) I was thinking of contacting the company but wasn't sure how successful that would be -- I think I'll at least give it a try.

Thank you very much for the help. My brain is operating at about 45% capacity these days, for various reasons, and sometimes I'm stymied by the strangest things.

I so hear that. I think it's the humidity. Or a brain tumor.
