Forgive my being an incomprehensible box of squee, but I LOVED THIS SO MUCH, OMG! Seriously, if I were to quote the bits that made me smile and the bits that made me laugh and my favorite bits, I'd just quote the whole thing back at you :D Seriously! I loved the humor and the poignancy and Danny's inner monologues and conversations with his brain and everything!

Well done! Thank you so much for posting this! It brightened my day considerably :D

Oh, this is utterly fantastic. I love how the linked-vignette format keeps the story moving and changing, and the voices are fabulous, and oh, I just adore these two -- thank you for this!

"Wake up. Die. Spew blood. Head turn 360 degrees. Parasitical life form out your thorax. Sort of thing."

I'm in love with your Nicholas Angel!! :P So awesome!!!

"That fucking buggery cunt bastard Tom Weaver shot me,"

Best sentence ever! Lol!! So something Danny would say!

Really wonderful story! I loved it!

annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 17th, 2007 09:10 pm (UTC) (linkage)
Thank you very much, and my apologies to the cat. Though at least she's not a biter like ours was. Couldn't abide humans singing, would run into the room and go straight for the offender's calf.
ocularis From: ocularis Date: May 16th, 2007 10:45 pm (UTC) (linkage)
ooooh! Amazing! Just simply amazing.
It was just great! You've got such a way with these little *cough!* stories. Can I say, jealousy on my behalf!

I love the Bolded Headlines as well. Very clever indeed!

I can has Icecreams now.

Oh my god, this is brilliant. Brilliant! Hilarious and touching and -- at one point I realized I had that sort of high-pitched shrieky sort of laughter going on and got very embarassed, but fortunately my husband was downstairs. So fantastic -- this is absolutely getting bookmarked to read again the next time I need a pick-me-up.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 17th, 2007 09:02 pm (UTC) (linkage)
:D I know that laugh. That's the one where people come running: "Are you all right?" "EEE HWAK HWAK HWAK HWAKKKKKK."

Holy freaking heck that was freaking amazing. Wow, I loved that. Your writing style is gorgeous. :D :D :D

Hope to see more Hot Fuzz fic from ya.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 17th, 2007 08:58 pm (UTC) (linkage)
Thank you. I'll see if anything more...bursts out of my thorax and flees the room. D:

Also, your icon is purty.
prairiestar From: prairiestar Date: May 17th, 2007 12:26 am (UTC) (linkage)
Beautiful and hilarious! The flow is magical and entertaining, and as funny and wonderful as the whole thing is, you still managed to get me a little scared and freaked out with Danny waking up and his body and brain not working.

Drugged Nicholas is brilliant. :D
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 17th, 2007 08:53 pm (UTC) (linkage)
Thank you! I...had a bad nap experience last week involving a heat wave, neighbors with hammers, and some earplugs, and it was still fresh in my mind.
fingolfin From: fingolfin Date: May 17th, 2007 04:08 pm (UTC) (linkage)
this is very well written. the pacing is impeccable, both the comedic pacing and the narrative flow. soo funny throughout. i dont even know anything about the movie but certainly want to now if its anywhere near as good as this :) the characterization comes through even for someone who isnt familiar with the story. you didnt rely on the reader knowing what you were on about.
`puzzlement crept across Nicholas' face, drove in a stake or two, and set up camp.' lol awesome. the humour reminds me alot of douglas adams hitchhikers guide.
excellent stuff :)
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 17th, 2007 08:49 pm (UTC) (linkage)

...oh my God, you didn't!

You just taking the time to read it is the most flattering thing ever. Thank you.

The best thing about the movie is that, unlike much of the genre to which it pays homage, it doesn't actively hate its audience. Also, it's funnier'n a rubber crutch and has one of the best on-screen deaths ever. Er, if you enjoy that sort of thing.
From: joandarck Date: May 18th, 2007 05:50 am (UTC) (linkage)
I loved. this., it's so fresh and different, and BIGGLES, BIGGLES OMFG, and

Still, just for a moment, in Danny Butterman's heart, it was Christmas. With commentary tracks, bonus features, extra puppies, and beer.

Exactly.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 18th, 2007 01:23 pm (UTC) (linkage)
No lie -- I went in the other room for the pile of Biggles that susanmgarrett brought me from the UK (or possibly Canada, she was on the go a lot at the time) ages ago, pulled out Biggles, Flying Detective, popped it open at random, and got the cited passages on the first try. I think my copy may be a witch.
triskellita From: triskellita Date: May 21st, 2007 05:24 pm (UTC) (linkage)
this made me almost cry in my attempts to not laugh out loud in the library. it was awesome! i loved how you stuck in so many people and things from the movie from the intercut sections, while having the hilariousness of nick and danny doped up in the hospital. you are awesome.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 22nd, 2007 10:09 pm (UTC) (linkage)
Thank you very much indeed.
alexandriabrown From: alexandriabrown Date: May 23rd, 2007 04:13 am (UTC) (linkage)
Can't. Breathe. Laughing. Too. Hard.

This is perfectly, wonderfully divine and the Hoodies is exactly what would happen and Nicholas would go apeshit and *flails*

It's definitely off the chain.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: May 23rd, 2007 03:25 pm (UTC) (linkage)

That Nicholas fella...I think he may be wound a little tight.
averysmallthing From: averysmallthing Date: June 2nd, 2007 10:32 pm (UTC) (linkage)
I had to look up the word hove, and I accidentally checked wikipedia first. Did you know that Hove is a town on the southeast coast of England? Fun fact.

PCP and Red Bull.

I laughed out loud at that line. Actually, I laughed out loud through most of it and had to try to explain to my husband what was so funny.

You are getting friended.
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: June 5th, 2007 09:03 pm (UTC) (linkage)
I knew it was a town somewhere, but not where. The more you know! *animated stars*
lucylooo From: lucylooo Date: June 3rd, 2007 12:41 am (UTC) (linkage)
Well, that was just quite frankly fucking brilliant. I saw the movie last week and had about a billion people rec this story, and I'm so glad I finally sat down and read it. Marvellous, and I laughed all the way through. I do hope you're inspired to more!
annlarimer From: annlarimer Date: June 5th, 2007 09:09 pm (UTC) (linkage)
Thank you very much. Also, I fear your icon.
